Manifestation – What Does It Really Mean?
New Year, New Me… if this is something you are trying to embody perhaps manifestation might be something that interests you because manifesting can be one way that enables you to live your best life.
“Your whole life is a manifestation of the thoughts that go on in your head”. (Byrne, “The Secret”, 2006).
What is Manifestation? Manifesting is to make something happen – it is the ability to create the exact life that you want, to draw in anything that you desire and become the author of your own story.
Manifestation is bringing something into your life through attraction and belief, i.e. if you think it, it will come. However, there is more to manifestation than willpower and positive thinking. As Angelina Lombardo, the author of Spiritual Entrepreneur, says, “Manifesting is making everything you want to feel and experience a reality through your thoughts, actions, beliefs, and emotions.” Manifesting is all about believing in something in order to see it come your way. “Manifesting is the ability to use the power of your mind to change and create the reality you experience”, explains self-development coach Roxie Nafousi. “Manifesting is a practice that benefits literally every area of your life because it empowers you to become the very best version of yourself that exists, embody the person you most want to become, and help you to unlock the infinite potential that you have to create the life of your dreams”, she says.
Manifesting depends entirely on the person and it doesn’t work for everyone. For those that gel well with manifesting it can be a great way to help someone focus their goals and stay on track and it is important to hold ourselves accountable when it comes to meeting goals and aims – otherwise we tend to put things off or drop them when it doesn’t happen for us.
However, this is not a new concept. William Walker Atkinson (1906) first introduced the concept in his book; “Thought, Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the thought world”. Furthermore, Napoleon Hill (1937) defined manifesting as; “you are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment”. Additionally, Rhonda Byrne (2006) popularised the concept of Manifestation in her bestselling book “The Secret”. More recently inspirational people i.e. Louise Hay, Eckhart Tolle, Oprah Winfrey, Deepak Chopra and Gabrielle Bernstein all agree that manifestation does really work!
What are the steps for manifesting?
- Understand what you want to manifest: Be crystal clear about what it is that you would like to manifest and be as detailed as possible. Write down what exactly it is that you want and visualise how you’d feel if you reached your goals.
- Work on your mindset: Try to overcome your limiting beliefs and ensure your mindset is in alignment with your goals. If you want to attract money into your life but you have negative emotions and limiting beliefs surrounding money, then you’re actually preventing it from coming into your life. The same goes for love, success or anything else that you would like to manifest.
- Take heartfelt action towards your goals: Put in whatever work you can from your side to move you closer towards your goal, and leave the rest to the universe.
- Practice gratitude: Be grateful for what you already have and grateful for what other beautiful blessings are to come.
- Raise your vibration: practices to help to raise my vibration are yoga, meditation, exercise, a plant-based diet, surrounding yourself with positive and inspiring people, sleeping and waking early with eight hours of sleep, listening to self-development podcasts, journaling and practicing gratitude.
- Be open and receptive: “Energy flows, where attention goes”.
To put it simply, manifesting aims to put the individual in the driver’s seat of their own life and makes them responsible for the positive and negative effects in their lives.
Manifesting is not something you do it is a self-development practice to live by. It’s a way of living. True manifestation is a practice you commit to in your everyday actions, it is about aligning your behaviour, realising your worth, stepping outside your comfort zone, being resilient to challenges, embracing gratitude, surrendering, trusting, and being proactive in making your dreams happen. Manifesting benefits literally every area of your life … So, why not give it a go?
