“If you plan on being anything less than you’re capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life.” — Abraham Maslow
I would like to begin by letting you know that it is with deep sadness, that I write this as my last and final blog for the DMC Clinic as I take the leap to begin to work privately. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you that took the time to read my blogs. I hope they provided some food for thought!
But before I go, I would like to leave you with one last thing to think about or maybe even work on in my absence in your own personal therapy….
In order for me to enable my vision to become a reality – I had to take a step back and reflect on my own current practice which brought me back to my mission, which is;
“being myself, helping others, become a better version of myself, encouraging others to be the best version of themselves”.
And this got me thinking….
What does it mean to be the best version of yourself?
Today, we find ourselves in an extremely fast-paced, ever changing, technological, social media driven world, always searching for the next big thing, always wanting more than what we have.
What if we instead, we start to look inward for fulfilment rather than outward, experiences over possessions, flexibility over income and focus on becoming who we really are.
Ultimately, the key to becoming best version of yourself is living authentically by staying true to yourself, your values and your standards. Your values make you who you are, but your standards define what you’re willing to accept in life.
Your sense of self is ever-changing, not static. But ideally the best way to live an authentic and true life is by starting with the end in mind. Picture your ideal self and what that might look like and once you’ve identified the person you want to be, you can plan and take concrete steps towards becoming that person – the best version of yourself. Don’t put off today what can be done tomorrow – start making progress today. Here are some tips to help you become the best version of yourself.
How can we become the best version of ourselves?
- Visualise your future self.
- Let go of limiting beliefs.
- Know your purpose.
- Do not compromise on your dreams.
- Focus on your strengths.
- Embrace failure.
- Develop a growth mindset.
- Don’t have expectations.
- Surround yourself with the right people.
- Don’t take yourself too seriously.
- Help others.
- Practice gratitude every day.
- Have self-compassion.
- Stay positive.
- Prioritize what matters to you — not others.
- Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Every person is completely unique. Someone else’s life path cannot be your benchmark of success, since they have different dreams, passions and skills. There is also no roadmap or ideal outcome in life, because everyone’s path is theirs and theirs alone. Learning how to be the best version of yourself is a life-long journey. It’s a lot of work, but your personal growth is worth it.
When you are living the best version of yourself, you inspire others to live the best version of themselves and that will continue to be my mission and my goal.
Start Now: If this blog has encouraged you to become the best version of yourself then I suggest you read the following book – “Good Vibes, Good Life” by Vex King.
Final Words:
This is not goodbye but rather until we meet again… please stay happy, healthy and most importantly living your best life by being and becoming the best version of yourself.
